Zevely Bed and Breakfast stands on the corner of Main and Blum Streets in Historic Old Salem. The house was built by David Blum in 1840 but only five years later was sold to Augustus T. Zevely who is popularly identified with the structure due to his ownership and use of the building.
In 1993 a group of investors purchased the structure from Old Salem and procured Edwin Bouldin Architect PA to restore and adapt the building into a Bed and Breakfast. The program consisted of 12 guestrooms with modern baths, kitchen, dining room, breakfast room and utility room. The challenge was to preserve the original existing building fabric, remove newer modifications and to restore missing or damaged portions while incorporating a modern use.
