Shober House Reconstruction

The Salem College library was literally moved south in order to make the original Shober House site available.  The house was reconstructed using early documents and research furnished by Old Salem, Inc. and their Director of Restoration.  The interior of the residence was designed by Edwin Bouldin Architect PA to meet the programmatic needs of the office of admissions.  The architect designed a reception area and a wait area located in the original living room with a Moravian fireplace.  A compact interior stair was created to take up as little space as possible.  The upstairs accommodates offices for interviews and the cellar became a full basement for shipping, receiving, and workroom.
